About the Work
Czech-born, Chicago-based artist Jan Tichy’s digital art projection for ART on THE MART, titled Artes in Horto – Seven Gardens for Chicago, considered the work of seven local, historically consecutive artists who considered nature to be a significant influence on their practice. The natural elements from their artworks, animated and mapped across one of the most iconic architectural landmarks in Chicago, grew into a digitally projected garden of local art.
The work was commissioned by the Terra Foundation for American Art as part of its year-long initiative Art Design Chicago, speaking to the unique art and design history and legacy deeply rooted in the city of Chicago.
