About the Work

Lighting designer John Boesche presented a multi-part projection piece, 7 soliloquies, that captured seven significant Chicago theater artists in brief solo performances for ART on THE MART across two seasons of the platform’s 2019 program. The project first premiered in March 2019 in alignment with the 2019 Year of Chicago Theatre, a city-wide celebration of Chicago’s theatre community spearheaded by the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) and the League of Chicago Theaters.

The work highlighted significant Chicago theatre artists in brief solo performances. In addition to the performers, the work featured prominent composers, sound and scenic designers, puppeteers and visual artists – celebrating the city’s diverse creative community.
