Following solo shows at MoMA and Sprüth Magers, Nora Turato kicks off our 2024 season with her clever cut-ups of text, image, and video. Turato’s commission, THIS IS A TEST OF SEVERANCE. can you let go? builds on her recent explorations of ‘wellness’ culture, mining pop-cultural detritus, pulling out words and phrases, and filtering them through her signature visual lexicon. The work is at once incisive and validating: it reflects on our obsession with self-optimization, but not without motivating us to explore our own methods of building a good life.

Our yearly partnership with Chicago Public Schools, which features high school student artwork, runs for a limited time in addition to Nora Turato's production, May 1 – 12.
