Art on theMART Foundation

The Art on theMART Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit created to advance Art on theMART’s mission to provide free access to compelling and contemporary moving-image artwork projected onto the façade of theMART. The Foundation’s objective is to expand funding for artist commission fees and other art production costs. Expanded funding will grow Art on theMART’s curatorial program by engaging stakeholders who value art for the public good and civic leadership in Chicago communities.

Established in 2018 in partnership with the City of Chicago, Art on theMART’s operations, maintenance, events and marketing have been funded by theMART and its parent company: Vornado Realty Trust. TheMART / Vornado are committed to this relationship for at least the remainder of the 30-year public-private partnership.

TheMART’s initial landmark philanthropic investment of over $10 million and ongoing support means that Art on theMART operates without taxpayer contributions. TheMART’s operational commitment also allows the Art on theMART Foundation to focus solely on creating additional opportunities for a diverse range of artists, as well as key educational and cultural content partners such as Chicago Public Schools.

Through support from the Art on theMART Foundation, artists will utilize the platform and its evolving potential to elevate Chicago as a global destination for creativity, innovation and excellence in art, design and technology.
